Amanda Reid on the 36th Season of This Old House®

VICTORIAN RENOVATION

Belmont, Massachusetts

This Old House® — Season 36 Preview   After many months of hard work, I'm excited to finally announce that I'm the interior designer on the upcoming season of This Old House®! It's been a thrill and honor to be a part of such a wonderful and iconic show in its 36th season. The entire TOH team is terrific and the homeowners are wonderful — I hope you'll all tune in to watch.

This Old House® — Season 36, Episode 6   Amanda Reid presents the formal Living Room design to TOH Belmont homeowners and host, Kevin O'Connor, at the Boston Design Center. See how a design can complement the historic Victorian architecture and feel fresh, updated and functional for a modern family.

This Old House® — Season 36, Episode 7   Amanda Reid meets homeowner, Katherine, and host, Rich Trethewey, at a tile showroom to finalize bath finish selections. See the plans for the luxurious master bath and how a classic black & white scheme can be made kid appropriate.

This Old House® — Season 36, Episode 10   Amanda Reid meets homeowner Katherine and host Kevin at a lighting showroom to select fixtures. See how we used an old existing sconce as inspiration for selecting new and updated fixtures.

This Old House® — Season 36, Episode 11   Amanda Reid meets homeowners, Katherine and Murat, and host, Kevin, at the house to select interior paint colors for key spaces. See how the color palette is interwoven throughout the space for a cohesive look.

This Old House® — Season 36, Episode 12   Amanda, Katherine and Kevin go on a road trip to Vermont to visit Canvasworks to watch how a floorcloth is made. Popular during Victorian times, floorcloths are incredibly durable and easy to maintain so are a great solution for high traffic areas such as kitchens and mudrooms. While traditional patterns are possible, they are totally custom in both pattern and size -  see the contemporary take Amanda envisioned for the Belmont house.

This Old House® — Season 36, Episode 15   Preparation for the final reveal is underway in the second to last episode.  During the window treatment installation, Amanda shows Kevin the types of treatments and explains why she selected drapery for the living and dining rooms and roman shades for the young daughter's room.

This Old House® — Season 36, Episode 16   In the master bedroom, the challenge was how to make a design impact in the relatively small space that needed to accommodate the homeowners' king bed.  To make the space feel special, Amanda commissioned an artist to paint a custom wall pattern.  See how the artist creates the beautiful pattern.

This Old House® — Season 36, Final Reveal   In the last episode of the Belmont Victorian project, we see the final reveal of the entire home.  In this scene, Amanda shows Katherine and Kevin the final design in the Family, Living and Dining Rooms and explains how the selections reinforce the design concept to reintroduce antique elements and mix in contemporary pieces for a fresh, updated look that respects the architecture of this old house.
